Digital Wallets

Pay your way - with Apple Pay or Google Pay

Add your First Credit Union Debit Mastercard® to a compatible phone or watch and leave your wallet at home. Fast, secure, and accepted anywhere contactless payments are accepted.

Why use a digital wallet?

  1. Tap and go™ - Pay in seconds at any contactless terminal in‑store. For payments up to NZ$200, you usually won’t need your card PIN  - just your phone’s passcode, fingerprint, or face recognition. A PIN may be required for larger amounts.
  2. Safe and secure - Neither Apple nor Google share your actual card number with merchants. Your real card details stay protected.
  3. Pay anywhere - Use it in‑store, in your favourite apps, and at online checkouts worldwide.
  4. Same fees as your debit card - Your usual Debit Card Transaction fee still applies. First Credit Union doesn’t charge any extra or different fees for using Apple Pay or Google Pay instead of your physical card. Any surcharges charged by a merchant are set by the merchant, not First Credit Union.

Google Pay

Google Pay is the fast, simple way to pay at millions of places using your Android device.

Apple Pay

With Apple Pay, you can pay quickly and easily directly from your iPhone or Apple Watch.

  • First Credit Union doesn’t charge any additional fees to use Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your usual Debit Card Transaction fee still applies, the same as when using your physical debit card. Any surcharges applied are set by the merchant, not First Credit Union.

  • You can add your First Credit Union Debit Mastercard® to both Apple Pay and Google Pay.

  • Yes. Both Apple Pay and Google Pay use tokenisation -  your real card number is never shared with merchants.

    • Apple Pay also uses your device's built-in security (Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode).
    • Google Pay uses multiple layers of encryption to protect your payment information.
  • If your phone or watch is lost or stolen, act straight away.

You can use Find My (Apple) or Find My Device (Google) to lock or erase your device remotely. This will disable your digital wallet on that device.

You must also contact First Credit Union immediately. We can block your card and, if needed, remove your digital card directly through Mastercard, even if you no longer have access to your device.
